Question in the midst of a rats nest.... Help

Well I am finally doing the rats nest removal, and I am a little stuck....I cannot seem to find the anti after burner valve to remove it. I am using the tutorial. I don't have cruise control, and there is a white solenoid that is supposed to be hooked up to a "T" connection, which connects to the carb and the cruise control.

If I do not have cruise, how do I hook this up ?? Thanks...

Do I need the white solenoid at all without cruise??

The AAB is mounted on the bracket on the rear, right side of the carb. It unbolts with 2 bolts.

If you dont hav CC then follow the instructions. You just dont use that port IIRC.

I am looking at the picture of where the aab valve used to be in the tutorial, and I look at the space where mine should be, and it just doesn't look the same. I don't even know what a IIRC is or how to port it.... My name says it all I guess.....

I also counted that I have 5 solenoids, as apposed to the six I see in the tutorial.

I am not sure if Canadian Rx7's have a different setup than the ones from the states?

Well I took abit of a guess on the anti after burn valve and removed what I thought it was. I started the car up and now I have to hold the choke out, it doesn't stay out on its own, is this normal, or did I fubar something along the way possibly?

Well I am done as far as I can tell....I took the car for a drive and it seems to pull a little harder, and smoother. But as for idle.... the miss I was trying to get rid of.... seems to have gotten worse abit. Once and awhile at idle, the engine will just twitch abit and you can hear a bit of a pop thru the exhaust.... maybe there is still a vacume leak? Been trying to figure this out for quite some time...

Is the choke not staying out on its own normal after doing this?

Well after a little more searching I believe I found an answer to one of my questions....

Gonna try spraying carb cleaner around and seeing if there is a leak anywhere... Still not too sure about the choke tho...

If the car won't run without a choke immediately after removing the rats nest, you have a vacuum leak, 99% of the time. If you removed the airpump, ACV, and AAB, make sure your cover plates are sealed up good with RTV, then check your vacuum ports. You'll find it somewhere. If you stick your finger over it and the idle comes up, you're getting warmer.

You probably don't have a/c.

I do have a/c.... but no cruise.. FB II, how did you find out your gasket was bad, by using the spray something flamable around the vacume lines and intake manifold?

I just removed the rats nest in my '83. The clutch will not stay out for me as well. Did you figure out what was the cause? From my searching through the forums I am pretty sure the choke should not have been affected by the rat nest mod. I must have done exactly what you did. any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry, I meant the CHOKE will not stay out. (I also replaced the clutch master and release cylinders so it was on my mind.)

Chris,

Are you smoking crack or what? This thread is over 6 years old!

Did you plug everything back in?

Well, everyone always says search the forum. I am actually a little afraid to start a new thread.

I just determined what the issue was. From the mod tutorial I had unplugged what I *thought* was the vacuum switch connector. Since this was really the only electrical connection that was involved outside the rats nest, I plugged it back in and the choke works. Now I'll have to find the vacuum actual vacuum switch and trace a way to disconnect it.

My RX already had the AC removed, I could not find an answer on whether the white solenoid and the throttle opener are still required in my case. No big deal leaving them in I guess.

Boy the engine purrs nice! I can't wait to give the engine compartment a good cleaning.

I'll give you props for searching. :-)

Just found it funny that you asked if they ever figured out their problem. That member has not been on for over 3 years.

As suspected you left the connector unplugged for the sensor on the back of the water pump housing. :-)
