MEchanical oil pressure gauge questions
I got an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, and the fitting it came with to go into the block to replace the electrical sending unit is a little bigger than the stock threads, im wondering what size fitting i need to go into the block to adapt to the gauge

3/8 NPT if im not mistaken. be sure to use liquid teflon and install it slowly to prevent from damaging the thread.

There aren't any NPT threads on the 12a so far as I know. The oil press. sending unit is close to 1/4 NPT, but it is metric, as is the choke temp sensor at the water pump.
I highly recommend some kind of sealant on the sending unit threads, unless you like oil leaks. I never had trouble with teflon tape. It really has no where to go if a piece breaks off, anyway. Worse case is it blocks the sending unit. Just take care when installing it.
You can look around for metric threaded adapters. It would be the best way to install a NPT fitting.

most good auto parts stores have ' dorman products' freeze plugs, brass fittings, and what not. instead of using an adapter try to replace the fitting with a correct thread/ oil line pinch fitting. most oil lines are teflon/plastic type. vacum hose is perfect to 'house' the oil line through the firewall.

Also make sure you only Torque the Fitting @7lbs or you will strip the threads!!!
Learned that one the hard way.
As far as Teflon Tape is concerned, Ranger is correct. Use the Telon Paste or Liquid and leave the 1st couple of threads bare.
All of my Modified Fuel and Oil connections have the High Perfomance Liquid Thread Sealer and I have never had a Leak from any of them.
This Engine has been Highly Modified and NOOOO Leaks anywhere.
