sounds like a plan. I wonder how long it will actually take the cashier to count $95 in pennies.

I read something about this a while back, im not sure if its true or if it applies in ohio, but it could be worth a shot?

you can go to the police station and ask for the paper on when the radar gun was last calibrated... if it hasnt been done in a certin ammount of time (i dont know how long) or they cant produce the papers, i think you can get out of it on a technicality.

my dads a cop and everyday he has to calibrate the radar, all that consists of is bangin to tuning forks together and initialing a sheet of paper after he does it. It is true you can get it tossed out if they cant produce the sheet of paper, but its likely they do have it...sucks huh. But a better bet is to contest it, id say at least half of the time the cop wont show up to court and it will be thrown out if he doesn't show, i mean how many cops want to show up to court for a $95 speeding ticket... worth a shot maybe

p.s. dont forget court fees might cost just as much as the ticket!

you can fight it. if the police officer does not show up in court to veryify the incident, you have a great chance of getting off. were you clocked with a laser or radar? lasers do not lie and if you were hit with a laser, there is no way around it. usually the shift before the next officer will calibrate the radar. also, you have the right to look at the radar's speed. the officer has to show it to you if you ask. how fast were you going? please tell me you were wearing a seatbelt... if he got you with a laser, you can request the officer's appearence in court to verify. that will be your only snowball's chance in hell there. hopefully he got you with a radar. try contesting. if you are found guilty, pay it in pennies and nickles.

$95 dollars for speeding??? Holy **** your lucky. I was charged $130 for going down a one way street the wrong way, and it didnt have any points or anything on me. Every ticket I've heard about speeding is usually in the $300 range and alot of points.. Though its mostly in NYS that do it that bad.

Rofl, and when you get the change, mix it all together in different sacks,. The only downside is they might make you stick around to count it.

you have a much better chance now. try the calibrating thing. also, i think your best bet is to try to get the officer no to show up in court. if you have to pay, make sure you pay in change.

File a motion of discovery requesting the most recent calibration date of the device used to clock your speed. Also file a motion of discovery requesting proof of the citing officers certification and last date of certification. If the do not provide either of these before your court date you can get the ticket dismissed for failure to comply with a motion of discovery. I've gotten out of 2 this way in TX.

How about that?
