Question Mazdatrix 4 port 13B

Does anybody have any experience with this package? It's around 5k but seems to be a pretty good solution. Guessimates on max streetable power for these? I don't have to worry about emissions so this seems like something I might try. Thoughts?

Dude, 5K is a LOT of money. That's what expensive FD rebuilds cost with labor.

Keep looking.

It's just a 13B and what you need to swap it in to a 12A car. Nothing special.

Ya thats way too much. I think you should be able to find one for around 2500-3000 easily. Mabe its realy expensive beccause it comes with clutch, intake, header etc? Probably not. Now we are talking about a 74-85 13b right? If so i run these in my REPU and in one of my rx3's. They are a great engine. bigger ports than any of the other 13b's and way easier to go with big ports. plus gasket sets are about 30 buck cheaper. Oh ya one more bonus is they are 3mm apex seals. As far as the power goes. With a good street port and say a realy good carb like a DCOE or an IDA and a good header system i think your looking at about 185 HP. Mabe more or less but its a ball park range, i wouldent expect to see any more than 200.

it's GSL-SE everything except for the side housings which are 12A. which is basically how '74-78 13Bs were made, except the GSL-SE rotor housings are better so they use them.

yes $5000 looks steep until you realize that it does include an intake, a header, a flywheel and clutch... price all that out separately and then decide.

I think it'll be good for 200hp with the right carb. It might seem a little pricey, but Mazdatrix does some of the best porting around, plus they will produce a quality product. All that gives a piece of mind that's difficult to find anywhere else.

Don't forget that it is what they lable as an "E" level rebuild which essentially brand new!

DAMN!!! you could make a lot more Pony's with 5k then 185/200!!! You could buy a rebuild, turbo or surpercharge and get all the extra's for the swap for pretty close to 5k.

I had a buddy buy a Mazdatrix motor for like 3600. It was one of the nicer setups with a lot of new parts.
Runs the same as my $1200 Mazda Recycling rebuild, no better no worse. And that is a joke. I could buy a 20b Jspec for 3500.

More money does not always mean better.

Good luck

It's an all new engine with all the extras needed to swap it into a 12A car... $5k looks like a pretty good deal when you figure that it's ALL NEW and everything you need.

Thanks for the responses...I like the fact that the motor is built of entirely new parts with a warranty. I'm not a grease monkey myself. I can do little things like rebuild carbs, install ignitions, electric fans etc. but engine installation and tuning is not something I really fancy doing. Probably get Atlanta RX7 to do the install and tuning as there are no Rex shops in Huntsville.

Another question....

Will a 45 DCOE support that motor?

BTW, the Mazdatrix motor even comes with an exhaust that goes from the motor to the bumper.

Look at these prices

13B S6 Rebuilt ported dowled and ploished with Mega dollar ceramic seals in stock $6000 AUS ($3240US)

20B Rebuilt ported dowled and ploished immac. in stock $7500 AUS ($4050US)

My god only if we lived in australia Thats pretty cheap for a full rebuild, ported and all from a NOTED rotary rebuilder ...
