Airbox/Choke/Vacuum Line question

When I was working on my A/C, I noticed that the white ribbed tube (1.5" dia) that goes from the blue air box just under the choke to what looks like the exhaust header has a huge hole in it near the exhaust header, and had come loose at the air box. What is this hose, what does it do, and what's the best thing to do with it at this point?

it injects warm air into the airbox during winter. if you get headers then you would take it off so it isn't super important. mine is pointing off somewhere towards the hood.
