I've never used it personally, but I think its a waste of money. It says right on the bottle 100% petroleum I think, so basically its just a really heavy oil. Therefore all it does is thicken your oil. Rather than use that, just by heavier oil in the first place if you want that effect.

I have had great success with it. Thought I was going to need to replace my oil control rings and tried this as a last result. No issues since...

I have used it in tranny's before to quiet bearing noise and to get a little extra life out of them. I plan on putting some in my FB tranny this week. I've also used it transfer cases and it makes a big diff in noise reduction there too.

I think the biggest benefit that it offers is that it seems to reach difficult areas. I ran a little test that gives a pretty good example.
Most of us have seen the little display that they set up with the gears in the lexan case, right? Well if not, they have two sets of gears (one side has oil, the other side has the lucas addative in it). Turn the crank and watch how the oil moves up the gears. Lucas gets there a lot faster. Anyway, on to my test...
I took my old hedge trimmer that need oiling very badly. I put a few drops of castrol 20/50 on the very end of the trimmer and started it up. Well, the last couple of teeth on the end of the trimmer were lubed after a minute or so, but nothing else.
Next, I put a couple of drops of Lucas on the same spot. When I started it up this time, it got all "stringey like" and you could watch it move down the full lenght of the trimmer within about thirty seconds. As the trimmer was running, you could see these strings of lube in between the moving teeth. The **** crawled everywhere! That is what convinced me.
The only reason that I even ran this test is because my wife was bitching about her hedge trimmer at the same time that I was draining some oil to add the Lucas to my engine. So, I figured why not test it? Anyway, I am a believer and I'm using it in all my vehicles from now on. Find a way to test it out if you want... All I know is that my oil seals aren't blowing smoke in my rotary anymore, and that's enough for me...

Thanks, Ed
I've got some Lucas for my next oil change, and I'll be mixing it with 20/50 Castrol GTX.
Hopefully it will lessen my high RPM smoke. I'm becoming infamous in my Solo II club for beating my smoke to the finish line.

I'd say try it if you are having probelms, otherwise, stick with what the manufacturer tells you to put in. That being said, I do use MMO in my oil and sometimes in my gas. Sorry I sound wishywashy but MMO is GREAT for RX7's....cjf

I drained off about 1 1/2 quarts, and used that much Lucas to bring it back up to full. After about 30 minutes of driving the high rpm smoking went away and I haven't seen it since... I mixed with Castrol 20/50. No significant change in oil pressure.

I have not used the Lucas oil additive but i have used the power steering additive in my oldsmobile and it saved me from having to replace my power steering pump for the third time. Worked really well in that application.
I also like that in the octane additive they actually mention it is safe for Rotary
engine (Turbos?).

"anyone used it in the diff? What kind of lucas do you use? Mine has a slight leak and I would rather do this than drop the driveshaft and pull it apart."
There are different additives for different applications so in your case use the stuff for your diff.

I have also used their power steering sealant in my Audi. The guys on the Audi forum said that nothing would work for my steering rack leak and I would have to replace it (about 2,500.00). Figuring I had nothing to loose, I tried the Lucas and within 100 miles, no more leaking. I really should see about getting some stock in that company! lol....

I have had great success with Lucas oil. I recently did a complete fluids change on my car from the radiator to the transmission, oil, and the rear end LSD. I drained the ORIGINAL rearend oil out of it. It almost flowed like water comming out and was burnt smelling :-/ . So I replaced her with Pure! 80/90W Lucas Heavy oil Stabalizer about 1 1/2 quarts man oh man could I tell a difference! Every time I flung her around a corner I could feel her LSD transfering Power around like it was First Nature not second . Her LSD grabs releases grabs and goes with no slippage or hesitation like she did with her worn out burned up Original Rearend oil. I give it a all the way! I don't add it to my engines oil but that is just me. I added it to my '78 RX-7's Transmission before I got her rebuilt it quited her right down and she scrapped less until I got her transmission overhauld. But would advise agains putting it into your Automatic Transmission .
