Looking for the right pressure

Well I searched and couldnt find my answer. I got my new Holley blue fuel pump with reg and gauge. Running to a 12a SP with Edlebrok carb and RB intake. I am running the fuel pressure at 6psi and I am wonder if this is to much or to little. I got the pump second hand so I dont have the papers on it. I called holley and they couldnt tell me what I needed to know.

Call Edlebrock, or search thier web site. Why would Holley want to tell you what psi thier competitors run anyway?

That sounds more like jetting. You might try uping your psi in small increments to see if it helps, but watch the lower rpm range for running too rich. Are you sure that your pump is keeping a constant psi throughout the rpm range? You may want to mount your gauge in such a manner that you can watch it through the full rpm range.

I am running a 600 Edelbrock on a 12a SP with a Holly intake and I have a Holly Red pump set at 51/2 lbs and it seems to be running very smooth. I am getting about 18-20 MPG and my plugs are burning a medium brown which I think is about right.
