Hey All!
Just wondering if the keys for the doors and hatch are the same as for the ignition tumbler? Also, I know how much you all like to hear about stuff like this, so here it is. I absolutely killed a BOSS 302 Mustang a couple of months ago in my 83 Rex. This Rex was in crap shape with 182K Kms on the ticker, and it managed to smoke a mid 90's 302! HAHAHA Domestics can kiss my ***! No Replacement For Displacement :HA:

Are you sure it was a 302? 85% of 1990's models of had a turbo 4 or a six. If it was, there's not that much difference between your rx and a 4 or 6.

But then I smoked a 6cylinder convertable auto SN95 by about 7 car lengths in the same car.
On the other side of that coin, I blew the doors off a Saleen convertable once with my stock first 12a car. She couldn't find second gear.
must of been the boyfriends car.
Hi.
My car has three different keys: one for the driver's door, another for the passenger door and the hatch, and a third for the ignition.
I thought that might be normal, because my old Vauxhall used to have the same setup. You learn something new every day.
Bye,

The only Boss 302's ever made were a '69/70 homologation special (which would have left your RX-7 far, far, far behind) or a one year only '85 model, which looks nothing like the '90s models. The only '85 Bosses I've seen were a pukey tan/beige/cream kinda color with bit BOSS decals along the rocker panels. They had an extra 15hp over the regular GTs... this was just before the fuel injected models came out so I'm fairly certain it was '85. Might've been '86.
The turbo four was discontinued in the Mustang in '86 or '87... it used to be the only engine available in the GT, and then they moved it to the SVO when they started pushing the 5.0 engine... basically it cost $16000 when a new GT was $10000 and was slower, so nobody bought the SVO. The fourbanger even weighed as much as the V8 engine.

Well, the car had huge "BOSS 302" stickers on each door. Of course, the guy driving looked like the kind of guy that would slap some stickers on to make his car look faster. Also, it was the body style that came out before the current body style in use today, if that helps any. Also, ScruffyChimp, don't you find it a pain in the *** to have three different keys?? My dad's Peugeot 405 Mi16 (Hey, no jokes. It's actually a kickass car!) has four keys, and he's bringing the locks in to get them all changed for the ignition key. Thanks for all the info everybody.
My 85se has one key for both doors, glove compartment, and hatch. Fuel is electric pop only.
If you have a different key for each lock, go to a body shop and have your locks replaced. They can key it to your existing key. In my case, I had the original key which was special to me so I made sure my locks were replaced with tumblers to work with my original key every single Fn time it was broken into.
Cost to fix a broken lock without body work ~$45
To have it keyed ~$30.
Total was under $80 but the body could use some work. That's more like $300 more just for the simple fact that at that point, you gotta paint. =/
