All depends on what they are running. If you are up against J-spec B16's and a turbo pre-2000 Eclipse you'll want a streetport, the RB streetport exhaust system, and an upgraded (Sterling or something else) carb. Beat them N/A, especially if they are turbo, and you will be able to "kick their *** in style".

I wouldn't be so fast to hate on Hondas. Properly tuned they are monsters. For example: 1996 Integra GSR, JDM B18B, Greddy single turbo. 400 hp plus a bonus 120 shot of nitrous. Not a made up car, belonged to a racer friend of mine before he cleaned up. Granted, he has an FC now...

400+ hp from a JDM motor, and a aftermarket turbo, plus nitrous. That's a little more work than :most: people do to their car. Far from impressive if you ask me.
I've had 2 Hondas. Both were quick little cars, albeit slow overall. Neither gave me any major problems, but both were 10+ years old, and at that point, it's more maintenance and former owner care than anything that determines the car's performance (or what's left of it).
My point is, if it weren't for the extra thousands of dollars in the 400+ hp Honda (er...Acura) it would still be a 16 second car, and that's not impressive. And in the end, it's STILL a Honda! (er...Acura)

Tsk tsk, Illswyn the same can oft be said of our cars. They aren't particularly impressive in anything other than handling out of the box, and even then it gets outshone by its FD offspring. It requires a pretty good investment to get the FB anywhere below 15 seconds, and (dare I say it) the newer Hondas will cap us stock vs. stock. The point is that this guy wants to beat the pants off the Eclipse, having written off the Honda, which I say is a dangerous assumption to make. Especially since the third generation Eclipse is nothing to brag about in any of its stats, and the Hondas might very well be. Its all a matter of planning for the worst case scenario, something you learn to do quickly when racing.

nope, the people just could'nt drive, i mean at all....those were really my only races.... my 12a was street ported, stock nikki with some work, RB headers straight back to stock muffler,K&N filter, NGK plugs, SDS wires, electric fan, race pressure plate and 4 puck clutch, no emissions...not much at all, but put a whoopin to all those cars, haha.

love the braaaap
Ok, if the honda is not a Civic Si or something more powerfull than that (ie, accord V6), don't worry about it. The civics are still slow. Do you really think a 2600 lbs car with crappy FWD and not a whole lot more power than an FB can outrun and FB, I don't think so. Most of your civics only have 125 hp. Not much at all. And if you go to an older civic or CRX, it doesn't have much more than 100 hp at the wheels on a good day.

for the kid with the friend who had a gsr modded. ummmm........Just by curious, sounded funny to me. B18B? You sure about that? Cause unless he had a B18c1 he didn't have a GSR. Now 400hp hu? You'd have to have the biggest turbo and all the nice tinckerings under the hood. I knew a boy with a GSR with 450, but thats after a 2million dollar lawsuit and $90K in the engine alone. So please I'm curious what kind of mods he made to the engine.

Yep my 86 6-port with the racing beat holley setup takes most of them. But a few are still out of reach. I wouldn't mess with the real hondas. The kids that drive around and think their car is fast are the ones that you don't have to worry about. Its the one that looks stock, just maybe lowered with wheels, that will kick your ***. Just becareful what honda you pick on. For most are some of the slowest things on the planet.

Funny that we are racing these Hondas and crap and most our cars cost only a fraction of whose those dang cars cost. My $500 Rx-7 can beat a $13,000 Civic any day. Now that's hilarious to me!

I have a friend with a 92 hatch civic. No problem staying in front when he had the stock D15. Now that he finish rebuilding and installing the B16 from back in Japan(got it in a junk yard), I have to say it is pretty fast. It probably helps too that he has the tranny and lsd that came with it. If its just a civic with the stock motor with little mods you shouldn't have any problems.
