Light weight "7"

I am building a light weight RX-7...so far i have stripped the stereo...the carpets...the sound insulation...the center colum...interior door skins...and the passenger seat.

does anyone have andy ideas for places i can shed further pounds...my goal is to get it down to under 2000lbs...

I am thinking about buying all lexan windows and a fiberglass hood.

remove sound deadening tar on the floor and trunk will drop 25lbs.

after you remove the glass window regulator cut out the inner sheetmetal of the door. cut out the bracing under the hood and put balsawoood along the perimeter so the hood won't fold.

I made lexan 1/4 windows and saved 2 lbs each. Yahoo! that stuff does scratch real easy and I might put a clear mylar film over it.

Make sure whatever you put over the lexan isnt permanent, like window tint, because lexan/plexi release gases that will cause bubbling under the film
