I would imagine that would depend on whatever compliance laws you have in your state?

Sorry not much help, other than to say they're illegal over here.

I have to ask - why would you want one anyway? They're prone to scratching, and if you're on the open road you're far more likely to encounter things that will damage it.

They are also a pita to keep clear. They scratch very easily. They are also not that safe in an accident and may cause problems with your insurance company. They may concider the car race only and cancel your policy.

i use lexan alot with race cars for circle track, lexan is safer than glass, its nearly impossible to break, you can even use a metal breack to bend it like sheet metal, wont crack or break and it holds the shape, i do have a friend with a street legal dragster he drives on the street with lexan all the way around, windshield, door windows and back hatch, hes been pulled over a few times for the racing slicks, but they are street legal too, never said anything about the glass

but..every state is different, i would find out for sure what laws your state has

Yeah I was gonna say, Polycarbonate (Lexan is a brand name) is WAY saferr then glass... if it wasn't do you think it would be race legal?
It isn't quite as strong, but it is nearly unbreakable...

And it doesn't scratch THAT easy... although a lot easier than glass...

I was looking at their Poly hatch. Now that wouldnt be a bad idea.... a hell of a lot lighter than the stock hatch. And its in the rear..so scratching isnt a big problem.

Yeah, but you could save a bundle getting it done by a local plastic shop. There's nothing funky about the rear hatch. Just a sheet of Poly cut to spec, and then drill a few holes yourself...

Or just buy a sheet of poly the correct size and finish the edges and corners yourself... save even more...

thanks for the input everyone, that exactly the reason i was asking...i had no idea what the product was or that it scratched easier than glass, etc...
i was thinking of using it to help reduce weight a little but i guess it really might not be worth it at the price they're asking
