? what do you mean... throttle cable links directly to the carb and from the gas tank... there's the fuel pump, fuel filter, pressure regulator (if you have one) into carb primaries... where is this accelerator pump?

Just curious

after some reading, it seems like it is the pump that controls fuel flow into the vacuum secondaries on a stock nikki carb, correct? or way off?. I couldn't find a post the outright stated this, but that is the general consensus that i came to. If that's the case, I have a holley carb and this might be where my confusion came into play.

Thanks

But the issue only comes up when he "punches" it. I'd say that points to the accelerator pump. Not familiar with Holley carbs though.

The AP is there to shoot a little extra gas into the primary (on the stock carb) barrels when you depress the gas pedal. This is to prevent bogging. They typically have a rubber diaphragm inside, which can become broken and stop working.

I agree with Kentetsu, sounds like an accelerator pump issue, or possibly the secondaries opening too soon.

I sent Doc a PM requesting that he change the title of this thread so that it states that you are having an issue with a Holley carb. Hopefully, that will get you some more "qualified" responses. Best of luck to you.

I had a Holley carb on a boinger once and it ruptured the diaphragm of the AP regularly, like every few days.

Damn, sorry about that. I thought that was your reply that mentioned a holley carb, but now I see it was someone else.
