more DLIDFIS problems (very specific question)
okay, you may have read my other thread, but anywho, i've discovered that im not getting spark from my leading coil. i dont know if the coils just fail or if its faulty wiring somewhere. i did not assemble this system so i dont know how it works. but im not getting any spark from the leading.
so i need to know how i can either check for something that often fails on the coils or is a place for a bad connection,
OR how to reconnect the stock coils so i can use the dizzy.

i rewired the second gen coil then reinstalled it, still no spark. so i rerouted the wires to the stock coil, and had the same issue. so this means the problem is where the power comes from for the leading coil. and my haynes manual is covered in oil. any ideas?

dead ignitor or no power. The leading ignitor is on the front of the dizzy (facing the rad). Try to swap your leading with your trailing ignitor and see if it works. The car will run fine without trailing. However, you will have no tach (unless the car was an SA) and you will have no fuel if the car is 84-85 (need trailing signal to activate fuel pump).

Can you just grab another one off your donor car? That is probably where the problem lies if you don't have spark. Check the plug on the ignitor too, sometimes they get corroded and have intermittent contact issues.

Umm..it's only two screws to remove it..piece of cake. If you have a RadioShack nearby, pick up a tube of heatsink compound. Spread some on the back of the new ignitor and re-install. This will aid in transfering heat from the ignitor to the dizzy resulting in a longer life for the ignitor
