Unhappy JUST 4 A LAUGH! Spark

Well it all started under the bonnet, had my hand resting on the high tension coil lead whist the engine was at about 4000rpm, got a decent shock, I'm pretty sure we've all had a shock now then, but I'm pretty sure, there havn't been too many people who have had a shock whilst being sick "diareoh" I had the runs and yes you guessed it. Just thought I'd share that with all of you. I have no shame.

Nice... I didn't s#@t myself but I've zapped myself on a damn boinger a couple times, You'd think I would learn the first time not to adjust the Plug wires while the engine is running.

Though, it takes a big man to admit something like that.

Yeah, I've had the car think I was a better conductor than the spark plug before. Didn't let the bowels release... but I screamed like a girl once

I had brain fade trying to diagnose a miss with my direct fire one time. While the engine was running, I tried to pull the plug wire off.... Remember, on direct fire, the coil goes straight to the plug.... I could feel my muscles in my arm pulsing with the engine!!!!!

Back in High School we all thought those little lawn mower engines were fun to dick around with while trying to find spark. All we did was hold the wire and some one pulled the cord.

One day, someone had the not so bright idea to try this with a car. I was leaning on the fender fairly close to the person as it was just about to be turned over. Should I paint the picture anymore? I screamed like a son of a bitch.

Its the current that kills.

Like Vipernicus, I screamed like a little girl every time I've gotten shocked.
(I hate ignition systems!)

...and a occassionally **** myself, though I don't have an excuse.

Very funny story!

it's the amperage that'll **** you up. a stun gun is 50,000-150,000 volts, but only like .000000001 amps, so it'll stun you and hurt, but it won't kill you. something like 600 milli amps run from fingertip to finger tip at 120 V and 60 Hz will cause your heart to collapse on itself and kill you.

i was testing to see if spark was getting to my plugs, and did not have a inductiv light, so i got an electricion insulated screw driver to hold close to the point and see if spark jumped, well not a good idea to began with and i happened to pick of the same color screw diver but not the insulated one and a guy hit the ignition it shock me like you would not be live, i could scream or yell i just froze up and fell back with the screw driver in one hand and the plug in the other, when i fell it pulled of the plug wire.

But the skin is a good enough insulator against 120V that it won't kill you... Lower the resistance say with water or sweat, or a cut and it helps.

I've gotten a good shock off of a 24V furnace transformer because I cut myself on a sharp connector.

I think it only takes 10 mA to kill a man if it's direct.
