junk yard 12a's
junk yard 12a's
is there any way to tell if a junk yard 12a that is locked up is just carbon locked, or is this just a gamble you have to take???
ive tried turning it by hand and by force with a 36 inch pipe wrench on the e-shaft pulley w/ no luck in either direction.

Its always a gamble. Even if the motor turns and you get good solid "swooshes" it may still have bad oil seals and flakiing and who knows what else. If you can get the 12a motor cheap than go for it. It can always be rebuilt.
You might be able to see visible damage looking in the exhaust ports, but that won't eliminate the possibility of hidden damage since you can't rotate the engine. You can learn a bit about an engine looking in the exhaust ports.

back to the subject at hand i guess ill be picking up the 12a as well and just take the chance
there are so many of these cars out here just sitting in back yards going to waste and the junk yard im pulling this 12a from has 2 more one for 500 and another for 300 or both for 600, then theres one for 800 gsl se that is suposed to be a runner. then theres another 2 for 600 one of then runs good and the other is a parts car. some one w/ some cash should come to odessa and rescue these things before they are lost to the scrap yards here. im doing the best i can but i just moved here and am still trying to get my finances straight.

I like to pull the engine apart in the junk yard, take the good parts only, and throw the rest in the cars hatch.
Take the good parts up to the counter where they have no clue what they are and pay peanuts for good stuff!
