anouther t2 ? w/ pics

this is my problem... I pulled the motor and tranny from the T2 and found this act clutch act preasure plate and act flywheel. all brand spankin.

I decided to pull off the preasure plate, and the bolts retaining it were at most hand tight. this got me wondering about the rest of the assy, there is the clutch flywheel and then a counter weight?

on the 12a there is the counter weight in the front cover but none on the rear of the e-shaft....

is this counter weight properly placed and also when you install a light weight flywheel dont you have to replace one of the counter weights?

thanks in advance.

On stock flywheels, the counterweight is cast in. Only the automatics had a couterweight attached to the flex plate. When adding a lightweight flywheel, one needs to add the counter weight based on the model/year/size/rotors of the engine. Front weight should be fine.

Be sure to use RED Locktite on the counter wieght bolts.

Score for you!
Thats about 500-600 bucks worth of mods right there.

The rear counterweight can only go on one way,its keyed to the E-Shaft..Assuming that is the right rear weight for the type of TII engine you have, then you are good to go.Just leave the big center nut tight and dont worry.

If you remove the actual flywheel, then it can go back on in any postion. The aftermarket flywheels are neutrally balanced and have mounting holes that are symetric.

Its a good idea to use a torque wrench when tightening the flywheel and clutch plate bolts, and of course use an alignment tool to get the clutch disc centered. The clutch pressure plate bolts dont usually require a butt-load of torque,13-20lbft is the factory spec.So many people make the mistake of running fasteners down as tight as they can, with a big ratchet.A dab of locktite is good insurance,as T said.

well i guess im going to assume that every thing is good as far as the counter weight. check the torque on the fly wheel and go back w/ the preasure plate.

speaking of score theres also a dual alt pully some brand of high performance rad cooling fan nad intercooler w/ pipes although the charge pipe is cracked

also a 3" stainless down pipe to a hooker aero chamber muffler

RB springs and KYB gas adjust shocks. some michelin drag radials that look like they have never been turned and a short throw shifter for the T2 trans.

all for free
