I've got money. What to do. Help
OK. I have like $650. These are the things ive done. headers, full strait no cat exhaust, double alt pulley, e-fan, remove rats nest and ac. What should I do to my car. I want more power. Will a good carb give me a noticable hp change? Im open to any ideas.
Streetport could be cheap or expensive, and you won't gain much at all unless you upgrade the carb too. If you do all the work yourself, and just get a new gasket kit, it'll cost $150-$200. If you have someone else port it and rebuild the engine, $1000-$3000.
I say you get a sterling/carl carb and do a streetport yourself

I didn't find the actual porting to be hard at all. It takes a long time to do it with a dremel, but it you've got a good dye grinder it goes real quick. It's just time consuming pulling the engine, taking it apart, cleaning everything, porting, putting back together, and putting it back in your car. It's a lot of work, but if you've got the time and the tools then it shouldn't be too hard.

I was worried too, but it's really not too hard. The first port I did took 2 hours, the next one 1 hour, next one 45mins, next one 15 mins. They all look the same, came out real nice. I'll get some pics up here soon.
I used TII streetport templates from racingbeat as a guideline. But I went a little bit bigger than them. I used the TII template because a friend already had that template and I could borrow it.
Does anyone have a step-by-step process in the porting? I think that would be quite helpful, as i know many of you in here are/have done the port job by yourself.
Besides the Dremel/air grinder, what other bits did you use to finish the port?

First I'd make sure everything is up to par. New bushings or shocks or springs (or all of the above) can make a world of difference. I'd check the brakes and lines as well.
A zoomie new exhaust won't make much difference if some other part of the car is lacking. Even new carpet makes a huge difference in how you view your car.
Just IMO.

Get a carb from Sterling or Rx7 Carl. That'll take about half of that money.
For the other half, what are you building the car for? road? track? autocross? If you want good handling, go for suspension. Otherwise, put some money into a clutch disc and flywheel. Just my call

yeah just for the road. Some weird noise in the tranny. I will have to fix it so that would be a good time for flywheel and clutch. What is the cheapest light flywheel and a good clutch.
