Cool IoTus, your intercooler piping progress...pics

this is so geoff, and all of you can check it out

my dad originally agreed to do his piping, and while watching him weld and stuff, i said dammit...i can do that!

so after some practicing on some scraps...i've now almost finished his custom piping...and did a few other things along the way

the blowoff valve still needs to go on this pipe, and i need to cut a notch out of the radiator support

i also moved the coolant overflow tank so we can have a spot to put his intake pipe as well, im going to paint the pipes with some stuff called metalcast, should look pretty sweet

theres his old oil filler neck, it was cut up and welded kinda crappy, so i put in a new one you can see in the other pics

well i still got more work to do so ill update the pics when im done...hope ya like how its goin

Looks good, need to work on your welding a bit more, but as long as it's airtight it doesn't matter what it looks like

yeah im workin on it, and no it wont matter what it looks like because its going to smoothed over and filled in...then painted

it sucks, whenever i get a good bead going i have to turn the pipe, so i can never keep it going...

its just a craftsman mig welder, another issue i have is the voltage, i need a setting in between what im doing, because it doesn't get hot enough on the low setting to get a good bead, and it gets too hot on the next setting up so i burn through...

im gettin better at it though

When I started welding I would just sit there and weld bead after bead until I got it to look good and have good, deep penetration. Just trial and error on arc length and voltage until I figured it out. I started out on a lincoln stick welder though, and from there started doing tig. I still have never touched a mig welder

yea, my biggest problem when i learned to weld was how fast i wanted the line to come out. once i got it to a point that was controllable, the bead got better. i dont own one myself tho yet, and my neighbor is never home anymore to use his so..... damnit! i need to gank one. haha, welding is fun!
