installing gauges
Looking for 2 1/16 gauges for Oil pressure and temp... I checked out iEquus, they only have them in 1 1/2 inch. Reason for 2 1/16 is that I am getting the pods from www.gaugepods.com and they drill it in that size. I dont want to go cheap, I have this feeling that they are inaccurate in the back of my head, but Autometer is too expensive for me ($500 for a set of gauges from what I hear).
Anyone have any ideas?

If you look through my widebody thread, I have all Autometer gauges, 5 of them, for total cost of about 220 from Jegs. I recommend getting the 150 psi oil pressure gauge. Mine can hit 125 psi on cold mornings with 20w50 oil on first start of the day.

5 gauges for 220?! My oil pressure gauge alone was 165.... Then again autometer cobalts are more expensive for some unknown reason. I agree with the oil pressure comment though, my gauge maxes out at 100 and its gotton almost that high on colder mornings...

Those are what i am 95% sure i am going to use. Thanks!
I still recommend electrical. Safer in the long run - and they react perfectly fine and fast. All the new ones have stepper motors in them so they are very smooth (smoother than mechanical too.)
I have TWO boost gauges. I have a Autometer Cobalt (Electrical) on my A pillar, and an Autometer Ultra-Lite (Mechanical) in my glove box for the passenger to monitor during tuning. Both are dead-on and read exactly what my Haltech is reading.
Check out the new Ultra-Lite II's - They are beautiful during the day, and (finally) backlit at night so they are very readable.
If I had to start over with gauges - I would definately go with the top of the line Nexus Gauges from Autometer. I just have too much invested in my current cobalts.

Having recently installed some mechanical oil pres and oil temp gauge, I'd actually recommend a mechanical oil pressure gauge (for the fast reaction), but a electrical oil temp gauge. Reaction for the temp is not as critical, as well as running the mechanical probe through the firewall is a PITA because you can't detach it.

P.S. I used some autometer phantom gauges.
