Currently removing dash in 84 GS. What kind of sorcery or witchcraft is needed to get the 3 bolts out that are under the defrost vents at the windshield? I'm about ready to remove the windshield to get at them.

 

a phillips screw driver bit and i think it's like a 5/16(8mm) wrench.

 

God it's so simple after you know the answer. Why didn't I think of that. You are the man my friend!!

 

A ratchet wrench also helps.

 

 

^this is even better. have also used those offset tools. there's also the really short stubby drivers.

I have this and it was still too tall to fit. I'm sure they are installed at the factory before the windshield.

 

When I removed the dash on my 82 I used one of this….gave me a hard time but I got them out….
