AR ignition ideas...?

Hey guys.... has anyone tried a msd 2 tower coil pack thats for a 88 buick lesabre it has inputs... one is for 12v switched, the other is for the trigger(ignitor signal) and it ground by the coil in contact to the body....its about $50 at autozone they are normally stocked...and it works great with DLIDFIS because all you do is hook your leading coil wire to it..and the 12v power... and run L1 and L2 from it....no extra ignitors or anything...took me about an hr tops...

also im thinking of running a msd crank trigger setup(v8 one cuz they fire every 90 deg like the 7's do) another one of those coils i mentioned above, connected with a msd 6al box, for MSDDFIS with 0 split timing... any thoughts, concerns, donations of 10 dollars or more???

or scratch the crank trigger...keep the dizzy as the trigger source... pn#8224 for the coil (40,000v max)... is recommend the msd Cim pn#8870 because it would make install easy...but i just used spade connectors that i had to trim a bit...

As discussed in other threads DFIS can be done in many ways and many
combinations. Just look at the link for TFIDFSI in my signature for instance.

The two tower pack would probably work just fine or at least as good as the
2G coil anyway.

Just remember your sharing the coil discharge across 2 plugs instead of just one.

i know there is tons of stuff on 2gcdfis, and dlidfis...just wanted to post something else on here...and the stock 2nd gen coil is way less than 40,000v i think isnt it? plus most people grab a used one...just trying say this worked for me...and no the rotary engine fires every 90deg look at the dizzy cap and the amount of degrees between the l2 and l1 is 90 and the motor fires every revolution so it must fire every 90 deg...plus if u take the cap off then the rotor and that little guard and look at the pickup its divided into 4 even sections(90 deg again) and every time one those lines up its one either l1 or l2....and the 180deg you are talking about is the about the rotors are off...because they are equally sided 120 deg, 180 degrees off from each other, each power pulse is 60 deg from each other...

You did ask for thoughts and concerns, so we told you what we thought.

BTW, each of the TFI coils I use puts out around 35Kv per leading plug when fired.
Thats a lot better than any dual tower coil out there 2G or MSD. I think even with
the MSD you will eventually burnout the ignitors, so you have been warned

LOL Pretty sure the distributor doesn't turn the same speed as the crackshaft. 90deg on the cap doesn't mean 90deg of motor turn.

See the TFIDFIS link in my signature if you want to use an HEI module for an
ignitor (dr100). The answer is yes you can use the dr100 modules for ignitors.

I think so, but more importantly there are easy to source and a lot cheaper.

I think they draw something like 6 amps and the Mazda J10X ignitors only
draw about 4.5 amps.

Don't quote me on that, but there is a difference.
