i just got my new SS oil cooler lines from mazdatrix!!!

Sweet they finally came in today(2 SS cooler lines and 2 sealing washers)....they were ($110 shipped)....well i am about to remove the old lines in a little bit i just wanted to know something first though....they said these new lines are direct replacement and they came with the sealing washers as well....I see there are 2 washers in the "kit"....Well i am a little confused.....are these washer only for the oil cooler side of the hoses...or do i put these washer on the bottom hose only...do i need more washers than just the two that they supplied to me??? ok ok i think im just being a little bit paranoid but i just wanna make sure i got everything before i start taking things apart.....Also how hard is it to take these old lines off?

The 2 crush washers are for the lower hose, where it goes into the engine.

Oh and on removing the old lines, use 2 wrenches or you will mess up your oil cooler.

Ok,I just removed an oil cooler and lines from one of my parts cars last weekend('85 GSLSE).
You definitely need 2 wrenches and it is a tight area to work in, even after re/moving a bunch of other parts.
I only disconnected the lines from the motor not the oil cooler.
Both lines had only 1 crush washer on the fitting that screws to the engine.
Why do you need 2 crush washers for one connection and only the lower hose?
Don't you need just one crush washer for each end of the hose's fittings(so 4)?
Can you use copper crush washers or do they have to be aluminum?
I cannot find the aluminum kind anywhere yet.
I'm not the one to answer the original question but since I'm doing about the same job,I was hoping to get some answers here also.
Thanks!

It's because is for both sides of the banjo bolt. It's probably good to clarify that I'm talking about the SE style cooler. Not sure about earlier ones, or 2nd gen ones. I think the 2nd gen ones require 4 washers, since I think it has banjo bolts front and rear.

Of course nothing prevents you from using crush washers everywhere. But the 2 crush washers that come with Mazdatrix oil cooler ss lines are for the banjo bolt in the rear of the engine.

Hey Man-
do NOT overtighten the new hoses!!! you will split the fitting on your rad!
I used Hercules Megalock Pipe sealant - you brush it on the male threads - as an extra measure of sealing security. Might want to think about changing out the rubber rad hangers that are ... 20+ yrs old?? ...while you can still buy them from mazda!
