how to separate engine mount rubber from face plate?!
Hi. I've removed the engine mounts from a 1982 RX7. I can't figure out how to remove the old rubber mounts from the face plate (the round metal plate that sit against the engine block). Is the engine mount bolt threaded through the plate (so I'd have to unscrew it)...or is being held in place by an adhesive (in which case I'll scrape and bash it out)? I spent 30 minutes battling and figured there must be some knack to it. Thanks.

Installed my engine mounts just this afternoon, and I don't even think the rubber is designed to come out of the steel disks. I'm thinking they're manufactured and glued to be pretty permanent.
Do you have replacement rubber components that fit these mounts? Most guys just buy new mounts when needed, or drill hockey pucks if they want solid mounting on a racecar.
This is what you're looking at, right? (*note, they have a plastic cap covering the threads in this picture):
If so, I don't believe those have removable/replaceable rubber components,

Yes, that's exactly it. The replacement mounts i purchased are just the rubber part with the integrated bolts. I'm assuming tye metal disk is needed when replacing the rubber mounts? I guess the other option is to try and cut the old rubber out and knock out/drill the bolt... But that looks time consuming.

Looks like you got the wrong parts, then.
That upper "cup" is part of the mount. The lower cup (which is, indeed, separate) fit inside and acts as a rotational stop.

Thanks. I cut the rubber off from the top cup and used a heat gun to aid removal of the vulcanising, then cut/ground out the top bolt. So now I can sandwich the rubber mount between the two metal cups.
