GA how many places can a trans.. leak

I have been losing 80w out the trans. I figure output seal. Am I right to figure that?

Can it leak out the sides? or the top?

I ask this after rolling the fronts wheels up on ramps and it seems like the whole trans case is dripping with 80w. SCl

Front seal in the bell housing, front seam( bell housing to center plate)back seam(center plate to tail housing), tail shaft, maybe shifter tube depending on year, side fill plug, bottom drain plug. Speedo cable, back up light sensor

I think that's it.

Ah Man, that's a bunch of places to find a leak on aa 83 Honda Civic.
Kidding.. its a 83 rx7 5 speed.

1 Front seal in the bell housing,
2 front seam( bell housing to center plate)
3 back seam(center plate to tail housing),
4 tail shaft, ................ Bought a Seal but now I'm not sure it leaks
5 maybe shifter tube depending on year,
6 side fill plug,................. Not leaking here
7 bottom drain plug. ............Not Leaking Here
8 Speedo cable,
9 Back up light sensor

I got to do some more detective work on this leak

Is there a common leak area on these trasmissions? SC

The most likely leaks are in this order:

1. front seal (requires tranny pull to get at it)

2. rear seal (easy to fix)

3. speedo gear (might need a new oring or washer can't remember which)

4. FB trannys might leak at the shift tube

5. Maybe out the top where the shifter goes in but not likely.

I've never heard of the other locations but have rarely seen leaks at them anyway.
These are all leaks I have either had or seen.

Update. tightened up 1/16th of a turn the lower, side trans bolts. No leaks from speedo or top of trans. Wiped it off real good, Not sure I did anything useful but the changing the oil felt good. Not much metal fillings on the plug magnet , I need to drive it a bit and do another check. Cheers. SC
