AB Nikki parts: what to keep, what do they do?

I don't want to strip my Nikki (just finishing rebuild) but I'm obviously losing the emissions. Can some experts tell me what the different parts do, esp. which are necessary. Why might I want to leave off the dashpot, for instance?

-Dashpot
-HAC (is it worth it to keep?)
-Choke (I've seen a Nikki with only the #2 choke diaphragm. Why?)
-Air vent solenoid
-Teeter-totter (throttle sub-return)
-Throttle opener (is this just for A/C?)
-Throttle sensor

Nikki on my car is an '84
The one I just rebuilt is an '83.
Some help from the rotor gods please!
