How do u start your cold RX?
Hi all, i got a '80 rx7, and i cant for the love of me start her up in a semi-cold morning. Any of time of day it fires up fine, but mornings is damn hard. Just wonding if u guys got any tips or methods u use to start ya Rx up without fail in the morning?
I usually turn the key to ON position for 10-15 seconds to let the fuel pump get some pressure, give it a few pumps on the accel, then fire her up. but no luck with this method in a cold morning, any suggestions welcomed

pull choke, turn key until starts, tap gas a couple times when it catches, get out, go back inside where it's warm until 10 minutes later when the beast is howling at ~3000rpm, push choke in, drive away...
if you don't know where the choke **** is, you're either blind, or it's missing
it's to the left of the steering column on the dash, right below the guage pod... pull it out when the key is "on" and it'll stay there... or, should...

Key to ON, pull choke out, 2 taps of the gas, start. Adjust choke to 1500RPM. My '80 always catches really quick, one or two pulses, no matter the temp. Unless the last time I drove it I let the idle sit so low that it died, then it takes a few more turns.

turn key to on.....3 pumps on the gas pedal....pull choke... and HMMMMM goes the rotary...
i think mine starts so good is because it is an automatic with 99kmiles.. so i wasent abused in its life..... its very hard/damn near impossible to abuse an automatic rx....

This works EVERY time for my S2,
Turn key, give a sec or 2 for the fuel pump to get pressure, Pull out choke. Hit Stater! adjust choke to get 1400 RPM idle, wait for choke to pull in.
I NEVER touch the accelerator.
sounds to me it needs a tune up!

It gets down here to minus 8 degrees.
Stanard procedure, ignition on radio off, choke all the way out, three pumps on the throttle, turn over, it then fires immediately. Choke in to 1500 revs. Let run for 2-3 minutes to warm the engine.
If your engine turns easily but does not fire, I suggest s]as a starting point to check your plugs.

Since im in FL it dont take much,
Turb the key,on the on postition,
Give the gas pedal a couple pumps,
Turbn the key competely over, once started.hold down gas pedal to keep it idle about 1500 rpms after warmed for a couple mins do a couple small rvs around 3 k mark ..if it still seems cold then keep idle at 1500 and repeat..
I haven had to use a choke since I put the Holley on...abotu 3 yrs now..

With the Weber:
I get in, turn the key on, put my seatbelt on (fuel pump has run for a little while by then), pump gas twice, hit key. Fires right up and idles till its warm.
With the old stock carb:
I get in, turn on the key, put my seatbelt on, pull choke, hit key. Fires right up. Adjust idle to 1500-2000 RPMs, let warm up, drive away. I also never had to touch the gas with my stock nikki.
