hopefully supercharging

Hello, I just bought a 1985 rx7 gsl 122,xxx miles, my goal is to fix it up a bit because it's a little rough but luckily no rust. along the way I plan on adding some after market parts, one thought is to supercharge it with a Toyota 1g but i'm new to any sort of mechanics and have no idea on how to tune any advice would be greatly appreciated. maybe add a haltech?

there are sc's out there designed for rotaries. the brand is escaping me right now but they usually run around $2k used and $3k ish new

I would advise you to do a LOT of reading a research before just jumping into these sort of things. there is much information on the site here, enjoy your '85

Pretty ambitious for admittedly being "new to any sort of mechanics". You should probably
start out just getting all the stock bits up to snuff while you learn.

Not sure what a yota 1g is but I bet it will need a lot of fabbing to get it working on a 12A.

I had similar thoughts of going with a supercharger, when I was searching I came across the following link:
Camden SuperChargers - Get a Supercharger kit for you're Mazda Rx7 13B Rotary

I have since decided not to go with a supercharger as my goal is more horsepower than it can provide and I've always wanted a turbo. Also, the amount of money for the kit was more than a used 13b Turbo that I could rebuild and swap in for the 12a.

the way i'm planning on doing it is putting in an intercooler then using pipe to the breather of course. id use a 1G supercharger and mounting it would be the trickiest part of install, other than tuning. id be using the 1G because its relatively cheap used and is pretty high quality for a factory sc. but for now my plan is to do a restoration and make sure everything is mechanically up to par.

I would recommend making a shopping list, be as detailed as possible. I did a N/A to turbo conversion on my last car. I bought all high quality components to make sure it was as reliable as possible. I scored some sweet deals, and bought lots of good condition used stuff, but it was incredible how quickly the cost added up. It was expensive but it definately turned out how I hoped. The problem is unless you part it out, you will never get that money back.

I run a Camden 7" supercharger, Bridgeport, and a holley 650. Honestly, the HP doesn't seem high, but I have a hard time not spinning the tires at a mid hard launch. Its great for my specific setup and gives me low end power that I didn't have with an N/A Bridgeport. And it sounds mean as hell, but if I were to do it all over again, I would go turbo.
