the hood is stuck. what do i do?

pulling the hood release thing doesn't do anything. not even a clicking noise. there is still tension, so it seems to be pulling something... i can't get it open just by pulling on it. i've tried pushing down on the hood, but it seems like it's already down as far as it will go.. i'm running out of ideas.

help anyone? i just replaced the water pump last night and i reaaaally want to check the coolant level.

I have a brand new Black and Decker 4 1/2" grinder that'll go thru the hood like a hot knife thru butter.

a skillsaw usually does the trick
Alternatly: Get underneath, and reach up there
yeah, it's a HUGE ******* pain in the ***, but, unless you wanna cut the hood open, not much you can do if the release wont' pull it

Guys guys If the cable is broken. Then it will come all the way out If its diconnected thats bad too, jack that car all the way up, and take a long stick and hit the release on the side of the latch, I had to do this years ago once. When I was doing bodywork and had problems

The cable popped out on mine once, I had to reach under on the exhaust side and pop the release. But if you still have tension on the cable, it's still hooked up.

Get a wide flat screwdriver, wrap it with tape if you don't want to harm your paint, and them pull out on the handle and pry up on the hood.

the spring or whatever that pops the hood up is probable broken.

Mine is. When I pull the cable nothing happens.
I have to have the door open, right hand on the hood pull, one finger trying to pull hood up. HOME DEPOT to the rescue.
