Holy smokes!

How many of you would pay 25K for a 1st gen?

I just saw a 1st gen at the car auction go for the equivlant in dollars of 19K, I spoke with the winning bidder (just curious) and he told me that he already had a buyer that was willing to pay the 19K plus his shops commision (totals out to about 25K)

granted the car was an origianl 1978 GT custom, 5 speed all original down to the ugly plaid seats, no rust, and only 29,743 KM's on the odometer with all receipts, + proof of mileage paint was perfect.

Oh and did I mention, it was number 73 off of the produciton line and the first of the GT's cusotms to come off of the line.........

I don't think they would be worth that, but that is insane. Means our cars are getting even higher and higher in demand. I've got to give that notion a big +1, and makes me want to keep both of mine that much more.

If I had the money, yes I would pay that for it. Remember we are talking about a low mileage, low production model in excellent condition. You guys are forgetting that alot of people rush out and buy "New" vehicles which lose anywhere from 2k to 10k as soon as you drive them off of the lot. Then a year or 2 later they depreciate another 15-35%.

for me i wouldnt want anyone getting serious about buying a rx7, even though i shouldnt be preaching, i am 15, but if it gets to popular, will have as many rx7's around as honda civics, we really dont want that, i think we would like to keep our cars rare enough to still make heads turn and say WOW WTF is that little thing! make sence? lol

There would never be as many Rx7's around as Civics considering Civics have sold a **** ton more than Rx7's, and are still being produced. Then you have to take into consideration all the Rx7's that have fallen thanks to rust/wrecks/and engine break downs. All that it means if more people get serious about Rx7's is that the price will increase for them. If you already own one, who cares? If you are looking to sell one, even better for you then! If you are looking to buy one in the future, then you are going to have to save more money if you really want one.

Kenn, that is indeed a rare car. It has all of the needed items to make it valuable. i.e., low production #, 1st of it's model kind, low mileage, and provenance, (paper trail), to go with it.

The sad part is, if this car turns out to be, say one of the top 5 1st gens produced, it will be a long time before we have the collector/cult status that others have earned.
