Holy hockey pucks!?!?!?!

Ok so I have heard that using hockey pucks as motor mounts are sort of common? I was just wondering how many people on here are using hockey pucks and what your opinion is about them. I know other than being 1.25 a peice rather than 40bucks or more for real motor mounts, but how about feeling differences. You know when you rev the engine and it leans, well does it still do that? Just curious. I actually thought of doing that myself, but I wan't to get some opinions first.

Yes you can use hockeypucks, we do it all the time in our hondas. It works actually prety well. Anotherthing we do to stiffen the mounts, we just fill in the "v's" with hard silicone. Works prety well, but not as well as the hockeypuck mounts.

I used hockey pucks from the dollar store, they were not thick enough so i put a excersise weight on top of it. I know its real ghetto but it worked well. The engine would not torque to one side at all. I drove it for a year and the crispness of the shifting was really nice, the shifter would no longer torque to one side while hard shifting anymore. THe problems i did have with them tho was the ammount of vibrations in the interior and throught the steering wheel. I really liked it at first, and when i was sport driving. But when crusing on the highway, or going to work at 7 AM all the vibrations started to **** me off. Another cool thing was that at certain rpms like 6500-7500, the a piller covers would just scream a highpitched virbation, it sounded pretty cool, like a shift buzzer. Got old after a while although. another prob i had, which wasn't really a big deal is it was hard to tune the carb, with soft mounts once the engine stops vibrating you know its pretty close. You really can't tell at all with hard mounts. Take a look at my pics it should be self explanitory.

good old canadian tire pucks...lets hear some more people who have done this I was thinking about polyurathane...but this is much cheaper...I've heard of people using hockey pucks in jeeps as a lift kit but never thought of motor mounts

I used basically the same thing. I got some steel round pieces that were to be used as brackets for something (not sure, who cares they were free lol). I noticed instantly that the car moves side to side when pumping the throttle a bit, and a large increase in floor vibration. I have the RB engine torque brace to help support the rear of the engine a bit since apparently, solid mounts can crack the front most housing or something (oil pump cover part). Also, some say that it is better to go with 1 solid, and 1 stock. The solid one goes on the pass side (US) since that is where the engine rocks to when it torques.

Ya whatever you can do to make it stiff without breaking anything.

BTW, you can use hockey pucks as lifts in any framed vehichle, but i wouldnt recomend it because the gaps between the pucks causes body shake and the vehicle may become unstable, inevidably the shaking will cause the body bolts to break or wear holes in the mounts.
