Holy Crap! did the Mechanical Secondaries.

I did the Mechanical secondaries this morning and it took me less than 20mins start to finish.

One thing I have to say is, if you havent done it, do it!!
Feels like an extra 5-10Hp right in the sweet spot of the mid range. I do stillhit a little bit of a flat spot at around 6300Rpm's. Not to bad though. I am going to have to relearn how to get on the throttle though, if I just mash it it bogs for aobut a half second and then really picks up.
I usually launch my car at around 3500Rpm's, but it bogs now that low, and can only get a really good launch at around 4500Rpm's. Sacrafice a little tire spin for some really nice 2nd gear pick up.
I also get a really nice bark when I shift to 3rd gear. (I wonder what it will do with my wheels & stock tires.)

But deffinetly if you havent done it, its really easy and worth the time!!

I got my write up off www.slegers.com/sites/sean
Thanks 82Transam and RotoMotodriver, for doing it.

Glad you like it. Once you get used to working the throttle you can make the transition pretty smooth, well smoother than just mashing it anyway. Carls right you could use a twist tie from a bread bag, but I used something a bit heavier.
fennix: as far as I know the parts of the carb we're dealing with here are the same.
Did you guys read sterlings writeup on this first?

Well that was kinda in jest. It would work but would not last more than a year or so I'd imagine. I actually use ss saftey wire that we use on airplanes. If you go the bread tie route, Id use at least 2 if not 3.

I know you were joking, but technically you *could.* I wouldn't recommend it.

I just used a piece of medium guage wire for now. As soon as I have a couple of bucks I will go buy some SS saftey wire...

I agree, I really liked the increase the stock carb gave it after that mod. And then I got the Holley setup that RB offers for the stock port engine. MAN!, what an increase in power THAT was. But I got it second hand for $200 bucks, so I didn't have to shell out $650 back then, which is almost $800 now for a new one.

LOL, error, I know other people do it that way, but as an airplane mechanic I tend to over engineer everything.
