Holley sticking Pedal when secondaries go??

So this just started this morning, went for a drive to the storage place and then came back home. I had to leave to do some grovery shoppping after that and I press the gas once to shoot some fuel in to make start up easier and the pedal gets stuck. I pop the hood and look around. Nothing seems to be getting stuck from the outside and didn't really have time to look much into it. So i pull it back with a bit of force and go back in the car she fires up fine.

I drive a couple of blocks (I normally just shift around 3-3.5K)and then when i went to turn, switch down to second and give her a little gas. reved it to about 4,000 rpm and i feel the pedal stuck again I clutch in and rev's like crazy so i had to stick my foot behing the accelerator pedal and lift it up again.

Driving for a bit i decided to experiment. I noticed that i have to rev it up to about 4,000rpm in order for it to get stuck each time. If i shift below that its normal. So the only thing that I can think of that goes on around that speed is the mechanical secondaries on my RB 465 carb.

I just got back from work it almost 3 am so i couldn't really do any testing in my driveway otherwise i'd just wake up the neighbourgh. Any thought on this would be great.

Thanks

You have mentioned the most likely area to start hunting. The secondary linkage of the carb. But, I thought RB's Holley's were vac secondary? Not that it matters.
BTW, I do know the feeling of a stuck throttle. Mine stuck wide open twice. Once on the dyno, thought I found the trouble. Then, at the track. Both times, a quick turn of the key saved a potential disaster. Not fun lifting the throttle to *try* slowing for a turn, and finding the throttle didn't comply................

Also, don't forget to check for the air cleaner possibly interfering with the throttle linkage.
As for the vac secondaries, it would be an internal port. If there is a large vacuum pod on the forward part of the carb, it's vacuum. As stated, that doesn't much matter, just an observation.

Try to mimic the sticking with the engine off, then check the throttle plates.

yea, it all sounds like something a little wd 40 wont fix, unless its catching on something, which i dont think would just happen for no reason. i feel bad for you, having all of these bad things happen, i hope the car is running come tuesday!!!

alright ... so i have tried to look at things a little more today ... now seems like its not the secondaries but just the spring thats acting up. The center one thats suppose to return the valves back into place. It seems that once it goes over the plastic piece that attaches to the metal piece that activates the primary pump (sorry for not knowing the correct terminologies) when it hits peak of the plastic piece the spring doesn't seem stron enough to pull it back. I'm going to try to lube the accelerator line and wd-40 all the parts near by that spring to free things up

Alright so I've found my problem ... turns out the main return spring was broken. The one that attaches from the throttle cable holder linkage to the actual carb. Went in to my local speed shop and to my luck they had something in stock. They had a dual spring setup that goes on there ... That thing was stiff with both springs on. It littleraly dropped my RPM about by about 750. So now i'm down to about 1,000rpm. Maybe like this I can save on gas money Good to see things coming along nicely now. Dyno Day tomorrow
