Holley ppl please read.... yes another float thread

Ok, So I know how to adjust float levels etc etc. And I've come to a dead end and don't know whether to turn left or right.

My problem is:
At the moment my levels are set so that if I take a left hand corner, its fine, doesn't cut out or anything. But if I take a right hand corner just cruising, just as I apply gas to accelerate out of the corner it will go *splutter* *cough* *look at me i'm out of tune*. but if I punch the gas peddle out of a right turn it will just get up and go. I know its the float level because if I raise both float levels a tiny bit. The problem goes away but then when I take a left hand corner, it cuts out. lol!!! So my question is should I just adjust one of the float levels instead of doing both at a time? Which float bowl would be being affected when I turn right and get this stutter? And yes I've adjusted them both properely with the sight plug hole and the motor running etc. Please there must be a simple fix for this. I'm gonna try raise the primary float bowl and see if that helps.
I'm selling this motor and want it too be running sweeeeeeet when I sell it. Bring on the 13bT wooo!

Please throw your ideas at me!! Oh yeh fuel pressure is a nice 4 1/2 psi. Was higher and made no difference.

cheers,
heb.

Get the Holley Race Float Bowl Kit from RB and that will solve your Stumble out or into Curve problem.
Just get ready to spend $208.00US and you will also have buy there Dbl Pumber Fuel Line. Another $38.00!!!
Thats what I finally did after spending Hrs, Day's, Weeks, before I just give up and Bent Over.

Someone here posted a thread where you can get them from Holley alot cheaper, but I'm not sure if the are the same.
RB does there Magic to there Carbs so I do not know if they do something special to there Center Pivot Bowls.

Don't they make a LeMans fuel bowl or something like that which is a center hung float?

Let me see if I can find it.

Found it: http://racingbeat.com/resultset.asp?PartNumber=16641

This is why Holleys are ok for straight line stuff, but have problems in the corners. The center hung bowl kits will help. RB does NOT supply them with their carbs.

Are you checking both adjustments on each float?

It sounds like you are getting only 1 adjustment in spec and throwing the other one off, then when you readjust them you are getting the adjustment that was out of spec in spec and throwing the other out.

thats what it sounds like to me, like the floats are actually tweeked and your only hitting one of the 2 adjustments.

yeh v8killr, I was doing that a while ago, and since resetting them both its been better. Just before I raised the primary a little bit more then the secondary and its almost eliminated the stutter. Looking good

RB holleys also use a power valve block off from what I recall and they also are vacuum secondaries with no metering block on the secondaries (they use a metering plate which you cannot jet which is fine because of how they tune them). I think an ideal holley would be a double pumper at like 500cfm (I think the smallest cfm double pumper is 650 though). A double pumper is great because you have mechanical secondaries, a accelerator pump on the secondary float to give you the extra fuel shot needed when the secondaries open, you can jet the primaries and secondaries, and I believe all of the double pumpers have center-hung float bowls. I was considering weber on my next rx-7 project if I was to stay carbed, but I may do a holley double pumper instead, drill out the air bleeds some, upgrade to the 50cc accelerator pump on the secondary, and some other mods, I think it could work quite well... If fuel consumption wasn't a concern. Well, just my $.02
P.S. Any of you holley gurus out there, don't hesitate to correct me if I am wrong, after all, I do not want to be mis-informing anyone.

i played around with my float levels for quite some time before i had the car running right. so far i'm very rarely having sloshing problems in corners.. it only seems to cut out when im driving very slowely and hit the gas too quickly around a corner (with mech. secondaries)

i guess just keep messing around til its acceptable, the problem really isnt as bad as people make it out to be once you have the carb adjusted properly. not a big enough problem to be buying the race bowl atleast...

my spitty does the cut out alittle during turns, but that car will pull a g on the skidpad. I've never even tried to fix it by adjusting the bowls, I'll do that. I modified my rb holley with an adjustable secondary metering block, with 66s jets. It runs better than with the metering plate, it was too rich straight from racing beat. You can buy all the stuff the convert to center hung floats with jet extensions, but its VERY expensive. Better to buy a used double pumper and swap over the parts.
