So true.

My whole point is that the faster you want to go the more $ your going to need.
That's exactly the point... you're wrong about what it takes to achieve these sort of speeds in an Rx-7. The car in that graph has no body mods whatsoever, stock steering and modified suspension based on "bolt in" components. In fact, I bet half the people on this forum have something similar in the steering and suspension departments. The driveline is nothing too out of the ordinary either. Simply a 13BT making great power, TII gearbox and a Series 2 diff with factory race LSD and tall gearing.

Don't bother disputing these FACTS unless you have something to add that's based on REAL experience and not just conjecture.

Sorry guys, I just couldn't resist any longer but some of these kids have a little to learn about the need for speed.
Comments like that won't make you any friends here. You're the one that came on here with an utterly stupid remark about it costing $5000 to gain 1mph and persisting with it while many people showed you to be wrong.

Aren't we mixing up a few facts here?
Some said you'll need more then "just" 800hp to get 200mph. Like suspension etc. Well, isn't the car we are talking about modified in any possible way?
And isn't it a bit stupid to claim the steering isn't up to the task if we are all driving 18-25 year old steering systems, often never overhauled? It seems very logic for me that you start with a car that's in perfect condition, not with an old wreck.
I'm more then convinced that a "new" first gen, or one that has been fully rebuild to as new condition, is very well able to run a straight line at higher speeds. As a matter of fact, my car never becomes unstable, and has done 130mph+ often enough. Ok, that's still not 200mph, but my car isn't halfway as modified as hitmans is.
As for the body: to reach higher speeds you'd need as less drag as possible, so you'll not gonna bolt on any useless wings. The racing beat record car was only lowered, and it didn't fly off the road, did it?
It's not the bodydesign that makes your cars handle bad, it's what's underneath. Keep in mind nothing lasts forever, and start rebuilding that suspension/steering/etc and then get everything alligned. You'll wonder how good a first gen handles, at speed!

There are wings that not only lower the lift, but decrease the drag. The angle the rear glass is too steep on 1st gens, roughly 30* below the horizontal. Research has shown that to minimize the drag the rear window should slope down only 15* below horizontal. Adding a duck tail spoiler can make the effective angle very close to 15*, actually decreasing drag. That's what several SAE articles say. That fact is backed up by Mazda's own factory option spoiler. The addition of rear spoiler and front air dam is supposed to drop the coefficent of drag from .32 to .29.
