First you need to perform a oil pressure test asap, if your pressure is at tha
t, which is unlikely you are going to have major engine problems, most common failure is sending unit. rx7doctor

Did you verify if the oil pressure reading was correct or incorrect. rx7doctor

Before you mucking about tapping the oil lines and such to install a guage. Check the wires going to your oil sending unit, the fuses for your guages, the conditon (color) of your oil, and the oil filter.

I'm not sure if its a no-current or a short, but the guages peg high if there is a problem with the sender. Check for pinched wires, loose connections etc.

Some aftermarket guages use a sender, others use a direct tap into an oil line with pressure. From what I hear, the Mazda guage and sender is fairly accurate so it may be better to replace with OEM parts than to use aftermarket ones.

Your sending unit is located on the left side of engine block, this is seen as sitting in the drivers seat. It is below the oil filter about 6 inches below and looks like a big bell. rx7doctor
