Lemme see. The redline on the tach is at 7000rpm, correct? Is this unclear? Redline generally means that bad things are likely to occur past this engine speed, so while you can certainly pass 7000rpm, you may have to face consequences.

It's a 5-speed, most likely. A 4-speed manual was available as well, I believe.

Rotary culture? Sounds like a disease that stems from handling too many apex seals.

As far as I know the 7's have NEVER had a 6-speed. A 79 should only have a 4-speed transmission. I would not reccomend redlining that car for too long, its 25 years old that kind of stress may kill it. I think the 79's still have the shift buzzer. When you hear that buzz, SHIFT! Running a stock 12a out any further beyond that 7000-7500 rpm redline will NOT get you any more power. Shifting when that buzzer tells you to shifts from the top of the powerband in one gear to the bottom of the powerband in the next.

You are also 15. I know you don't want to hear it, but you shouldn't push yourself as a driver so soon. Learn how the car feels at normal legal speeds. Any car that old will get wierd at high speeds, and stock 7's are known to be unstable over 100. If you want to wind it out, go to a trackday, the instructors there will help you match your limits to the cars limits. Also, cops don't give warnings to minors.

true lol it all depends on the mods on the vehicle man. They love going to high RPMS, but without the mods to push it past that (SP,INTake Exhaust, etc.) theres no point. Just take it easy in the car, get used to it first, don't go wrecking a present. At high rpms the rotor tends to get a vibration in it. That could cause a seal to bust. Everyone here is going to tell you the same thing, take it easy don't kill yourself. Worry more about what needs to be restored on it first ok. With one thing there is typically another.

Wish that the forum had spell check, Son, just drive like a human being not an idiot, then we won't have to peel you off a tree sometime . Also proof read your written work, and Ohio has a really dumb speed law. Bob
