Question help ID this x-07 on a 1979 FB

I'm not totally sure what this is exactly. I've never seen anything like it. From observation it looks to be some kind of fuse. Does anyone have any information on this? I've looked at an online version of the wiring diagram and only shows whats connected to it, not what it is. Any information on it will help a bunch.

::edit::After look at it on the post after i posted it i seen the schematic on the front of it lol. Still curious on where to get replacement fuses for it. Theres one on there with it looks like a rigged up piece of wire.(if they are fuses)

I'm not overly sure what we are looking at but the wavy lines in the wiring diagrams usually signify fusible links.

That is your 'under-hood' fusible links.

FB just means 1981-85, signifies the changes in body style, ignition, gauges, etc.

or if you wanna split hairs: Series 1 = 79-80, Series 2 = 1981-1982, Series 3 1983-1985.

You can replace the wire type fuses with plastic block-type fusible links that are easy to find at auto parts stores. Make sure you get the ones with longer legs so they go in all the way.

I recently replaced mine in an effort to cure the headlights not retracting but without success.

edit:Oops just noticed bugman's post. Those are the ones. P.S. I own a 1982 SA22C...

Did you look at the retraction mechanism? Probably stripped gear.

Bugman did your large diameter black wire run straight to your battery? I'm not sure how the previous owner had it in there. He had most of the wiring just laying in the engine bay.

I'm also curious in your name. Are you into VW's?

the FC fuse block in place of the fusible link box unit is a nice upgrade. it allows for eaiser replacement of the fusible links and gives you a few spots to protect other components you may add. if plan on adding an e-fan or other accessories i have a spot to have it fused. here are a few pics of an FC fuseblock installed in my 85 S:

Yea that has to be one of the better electrical mods you could do. If my links fry in the future I might hit the salvage yard looking for one.
