Hello from another West MI addict
Hey guys, just thought id say hi.
Ive been lurking for a few weeks, and I just brought home a white 85 GSL-SE with about 80k miles on it. Blown rear rotor. Ive just been working on picking the engine bay apart and cleaning it all up. Right now Im leaning towards a rebuild with some heavy duty porting - already ordered the Atkins rebuild video. I thought of going the engine swap route....but just dont have the cash. Im sure you'll see alot of me as ive never had my hands on a rotary before.
Im going to school in Grand Rapids, and I know there are a few rotarheads around GR.....anyone willing to look over my shoulder from time to time so I dont completely ruin my chances of getting this critter running?

I'm also in GR. I'd be glad to check out your setup sometime. You just missed the GR BBQ a little over a week ago...
Shoot me a PM and we'll hook up....

yea, its the same one that was on craigslist. He didnt seem to have alot of interest in it so I got it at a pretty good deal (by deal I mean alot more than he was asking ;-))
The part im uncomfortable with is mostly the porting and maybe parts of the rebuild, itd just be nice to have an extra set of eyes to catch all my screwups.
I thought I struck gold when I found a set of peri ported irons for pretty cheap, but then I realized how ungodly loud it would be. Im thinkin either full bridge, or the half street - half bridge port.

Check out the engine building section over at www.nopistons.com
They have a lot of info on porting. Are you a member of the Michigan rotary website yet?

Welcome to the club and the ever growing list of rotary addicts in West MI. I am slowly working into a 12a turbo or 13b turbo with porting so we may be able to help each other out. Send me a PM.
