Heat riser hose

Any idea where I could obtain a heat riser hose for my SA? When cold the idle is rough, I feel the heat riser would help a lot getting warm air into the carb until it shuts off with the little flap. I have looked everywhere and the part is NLA but I'm sure they sell generic hoses.

I have asked them but they say they don't know what I am referring to, are you sure that one will hold up under the temps? The OEM one had some sort of blue Teflon-style coating inside.

You can get them that are aluminum that should hold up for a good amount of time. The OEM just can't be had as you have found.

Thanks.

It's a tube about a foot long and 2" diameter that connects the air intake via a round port under the air horn to cowling around the exhaust manifold.

There's a bimetalic coil that opens a flap in the air horn when cold, so that warm air is delivered directly from the top of the exhaust manifold into the carb when the engine is cold. When it warms up, the flap closes and you get cold air into the carb.

Looks like this:

It looks like this, the white tube running straight down from the air horn. It attaches at the bottom to a metal heat shield that surrounds the stock exhaust manifold.

Imo it is stupid to remove this , the car starts and idles much nicer when the temprature is warm , this pipe WONT help with cold starts but will help the car idle smoother during cold weather . There is no performance gain by removing this and is 100% adaptable to headers if you have a heatsheild. Mine preety much crumbled appart last year .

I'm sure I have a spare laying around that I can send your way. I like having the hose in place personally.

The tube won't make any difference for a cold start, but very quickly the exhaust manifold will get hot, delivering hot air into the carb.

Thus the carb will warm up a lot faster, reducing emissions and increasing fuel economy.

It's a good idea, especially in cold climates.

Mine wouldn't get to operating temperature without it after my header install on cold days.
