Headliner
This is probably one of the hardest things to find for a FB, a black headliner with sunroof. I have been searching for a whiiile now, and still nothing. After looking at the 35$ door panels, I have got to thinking. I know it would be hard to fab up something stock looking. Should I take the chance with it, or keep looking? I may even redye a red headliner, if I can be sure it will last. Mine is starting to sag around the sunroof area.

Stu I have two brown ones for 84/85 GSLs you can have. They are in good shape and like doc says you can dye them the color you want if the brown doesn't work. The expensive part is shipping but if you are down here for the OGTA meeting Dec 8 that won't be a problem.
(I also have a nice pair of brown leather door panels that are yours for the trip down as well)
Here's a photo of one of the headliners:
And here's a shot of the door panels:

Hey i have an 83 with a vinal head liner i have thaught about redoing the vinal along with the door pannels but the head liner seems to have a cardboard skeleton that is getting very deformed any words of wisdom to either fix the one i have or hope for the best and try to find another one like jeezus tried to do. i would like to try to save the one i have if anyone thinks its possible any thaughts would be appreciated

It was a very cheap design especially the S2, and the cheap vinyl was prone to cracking in cold weather. My black vinyl headliner started cracking the first winter I had the car in 1982. I replaced it at least 3 times before I had it recovered with something better. It wouldn't be hard to fab up something stock looking or better than stock.

The headliner backing is somewhere between a cardboard and osb sheeting. The finish covering can be stripped off and replaced, but if the panel itself is deformed, usually from getting wet, replace it. Check with your local auto upholsterer for a new covering. I have several headliner saved from parted cars, with and w/o sunroofs.

one of the nicest headliners i have seen was one in a 86 sport. he recoverd it with thin black swede the kind that is used often for female jackets i'm sure you could do something like that. i would start by pulling of the original fabric very carefully and using it for a pattern. then cut out the marital you wanted and apply it with some good high quality adhesive then perhaps staple it on the edges.
this kind of stuff is not that hard it just takes allot of patience and measuring measure 5 times cut once.
