There are wheels available. The bolt pattern is not common like the person said but you can still find them. Not sure where as I am broke and havent thought about wheels yet.

i'm pretty sure nobody currently makes wheels for 1st gen 7s. the bolt pattern isn't common enough to be profitable. especially since the cars aren't all that popular with the mainstream "tuner" crowd.

best bet is to scour the classifieds. also, swapping in the gsl-se suspension improves your chances of finding a set you like, since the bolt pattern on those is MUCH more common.

Your stock rims are 13". 14s if you have a GSL-SE.

Some places still have new ones, but they're few and far between. If you have a GSL-SE, you can get rims almost anywhere because they use an american bolt pattern of 4x4.5"

The stock rims are 4x110mm I believe, and are hard to find. ROH makes the Snyper, which fits and there are a few others. Do a search, they exist.

17s are forkin' huge. I hope you don't want to do any *real* driving with rims like that... just shows and stuff. I mean if you got really low-profile tires and stiff springs you should be able to do regular driving with no problems, but anything bigger, or any harder driving and you'll run into problems methinks.

Oh, and don't use all-caps. Ever. It's the online equivalent of screaming at the top of your lungs. It's not pleasant to read, and not very polite.

Jon

i agree with vipernicus. 17 is too big for a 1st gen rx-7.

i had 15x7" wheels on my '83 gsl and that would be as big as i go. 15x7 is really meaty looking on a small car like the FB.

If you have to have 17" rims w/ no tire, HRE may make them for you.

I can solve that wheel problem very easily...just buy the cp wheel adaptors and you suddenly have the choice of hundreds of wheels...and they work extremely well...but their not cheap

I spent 160 on spacer adapters and chose the common bolt pattern 4x4.25 inch ( 4x108 mm...just 2 mm off from the stock Rx-7 pattern ). That is the pattern for 1979 to 1993 Mustang ( and a **** pot of other cars ), so there is a world of styles, sizes, and offsets available for cheap. ( or not ).

Victoria British have 8 Spoke Alloy wheel set 13" x 5.5" for 79-85 Rx-7s,
the set cost $599.95

To David Grimes & Lee Lyons,
where can you get those adapters? online or at local wheel stores?

They would open up a great world of wheels to choose from.

Thanx!

you can also get blanks and have them drilled to the 4X110.

I got mine for 160 for 4 adaters less than 6 mos ago. I paid a few extra bucks for them to supply 16 lug bolts to attach to my flanges. Of course they came with the lug studs attached and I got the wheel lug nuts to fit my wheel seats locally. They will quote youin minutes on the phone and they shipped quickly. They are light and strong. Check out the website:

Best $ I ever spent.

Has anyone done the conversion to the second gen wheel pattern(114.3 X 4 or 114.3 X 5)? This would open up the wheel possibilities and give a big brake conversion.
