Good tires for stock rims?

Alright I have completed a list of things to get for this 85 rx7 I recently got but now the next thing on my list will be tires. I have only found a few tires that is the same size as the ones on the car right now and they need to be changed very soon. All 4 of the tires are dry rotted very badly and one of them will not hold air in it for longer than a few hours. I want to stick with the stock rims on this thing but I just don't know what tires will be best for it. I went to tirerack.com and also pepboys and total I only found 4 different kinds and they seem to mostly have some bad reviews. I want to autocross this car so I will need something that can grip but it needs to be street tires. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should get?

I know everybody will say they are sissy tires completely unsuited for autocrossing, but here's what I'd recommend:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

85,000 mile/6 year tread warranty, very highly rated by users, inexpensive at $61/tire (I bought my set locally, less than $300 delivered, mounted, balanced, installed and taxed).

It's a standard touring all weather tire, very smooth and predictable ride at highway speeds (80 mph here in GA), handles very well on the back roads, I've never broken mine loose and I've tested them a few times.

I have over 30,000 miles on the set I bought a little less than 2 years ago and so far and they still look and perform like new. I haven't even had them in for the free balance and rotation yet (although that reminds me I need to go do that).

I've had the same Kumho Solus KR21s on my 2000 Protege for quite a few miles now. I've probably got somewhere between 35k and 50k on them. They have been great tires, but are about ready to be replaced.

This gets asked pretty often. Heres the last thread about it recently.

Try searching, there may be more info out there.

i also am currently using to kumho solus at the moment but my favorite is bridgestone. they seem to grip well and last about the same amount of miles as the kumhos.

I have Kumho's on my Mazda Protege 5, Ecxtas, I think they are, a low profile 16" tire. They cost twice as much as the Kumho Solus and last half as long.

I need to replace them every 30,000-40,000 miles, really pisses me off.

What a difference from the FB, here's a pic of the Kumhos on the Silver One I took today, with 30,000 miles on them already. I fully expect to get 120,000 miles out of these tires:

Well it seems that answers my question then lol. Everyone seems to agree on the same tires so they must be pretty good.

Yeah, but they're not making the HTR200s anymore.

I'm hoping the set I've got now can make it through another season
of autocross... Whey they're done, I have no idea what I'll replace them with.

I recently put Sumitomo HTR T4's on mine. Gives a really good ride and sticks to the road well.
