ID Good Carburator Choice?

Whats a good choice in Carbs to get other than a Nikki its for a 1983 stock port engine I ask because my current Nikki won't feed fuel to the engine and I'd rather just replace the whole setup with something new so I can finally get the car running again and move on to make it road worthy again.

Weber IDA or DCOE or Dellorto 48 DHLA. The DCOE and the Dell are side drafts which will give
slight better drivability but the IDA is dowdraft and do really well.

The nikki should be easy to get working. DId you try cleaning and rebuilding it?

I have cleaned it up and put new gaskets on it when I stuck it on the manifold maybe i could take the top off again and check the needles out again. however if I can't get it to work I need to consider buying a new carb setup cause I really would like to get this baby putting around town again.

Needles? you sure its a nikki carburetor?

If it is a nikki and you've got no fuel at idle check the fuel passages in the base plate. Those can be a bear to clean out and genrally get clogged.

jets I meant to say either way my carb is feeding fuel to the engine again

anyways now that its sending fuel again it does need to be timed cause my rpms are at like 1.8k or it goes 2k rpms. ill try to get a video put up in in my build thread.

when I start it i have to keep it revving long enough to fire up and run on its own.

Hmmm, I suspect its not a timing issue, more like a vacuum leak issue.

Good to hear its working better now tho. Keep at it until it purrs at 800 rpm or so.

I called these guys and they said a carb tune would run about $150. Boise Auto Repair - Maz-Tech Automotive Right there in Boise if that's not too far of a drive. Not sure if you're in the pan handle or not. I'm taking my RX7 there when I get back in October. Ohh, I'm running a Weber DCOE too. I'm sure the Nikki would end up being around the same price. Pretty flexible hours.

I"m not in the pan handle i'm in Burley however I can probably do it myself once I have everything plugged up and all my hoses connected for the radiator.
