Fuel lines S5 TII

Before I go digging in the FSM for this, just figured I would post. I'm replacing my fuel lines, and was curious how much LENGTH was needed? I already know I need 5/16th, so I am covered with that. And also, what type to get? I know inside fuel tank has to submersible, got that covered. Jegs has 5/16th in 5, 10, and 25ft lengths. Any online RX-7 retailers sell fuel line?

And since I am posting this, I have a Rising RPM primary fuel rail that was in a box of parts with my TII. Just how good are these things and how rare are they? Do they work better than FFE's fuel rails?

Thanks

Any reason you are replacing them in the first place? If there is no rust or damage, there is no need. Do you have a tape measure? If they only sell in three lengths, measure From the firwall to the tank and add a couple feet. I would expect that 10ft should be enough, but I have my lines out right now and there are a few complex bends up near the tank.

we're in luck, a bit. the parts catalog lists the hoses by the tank as being 380mm long, or 15". there are two, so thats 30". the hoses by the engine are about the same, lets say 12", x2, is 24". this is 4.5 feet, so you should buy the 10 footer.

Yes, the lines at the inlet for the fuel pump assembly were worn/brittle/cracking etc. I figured 10ft would suffice with quite a bit left over for some play. My other problem is finding submersible line that is NOT sold in 5ft lengths. I only need ~8" of line for inside the fuel tank.

Thanks for the help. I just want to get this car back on the road and enjoy it before it gets really hot outside.

I grossly misunderstood. I thought you were talking hardlines. Gates submersible can be bought in 1 ft sections at NAPA, I think

Yeah, I found 1ft section on Jegs for 20 bucks, and that seems pricey. Even if it is a specially made hose, seems crazy for 20 bucks. Oh, and no NAPA stores close to me at all.

that hose in the tank between the hanger unit and the pump is only about 3-4 inches..tops.
Dammit man,if you were closer I just put a low pressure pump in for my "surprise swap" and I got that hose left over, same size stuff.

IF someone was nice enough..(hint State side guys)..they'd just toss you an old one in the mail.!

I picked it up last night along with 6ft of fuel injection hose. It was a foot for 30 bucks, so it's okay. It would have taken TWO WEEKS to be shipped through Jegs. Altogether came to 67 and some change, so not a horrible deal, and no waiting on them to ship.

It will be put in today. Next up is buying a new Red Top or equivelant battery because mine is dead celling after just 1 week of sitting. This S5 TII is a nightmare, but hey, at least the motor is rather fresh with around 6k miles on it and it's streetported.

Thanks for all the help.

Even your avatar pic cringed when you had to pay 67 bucks for fuel hose..heh,heh!

I replaced the steel fuel line on one car and I cursed that freakin tube bender...cheap *** POS!
I bent the **** by hand...(you ever try to control a 10 foot piece of steel hose to bend it?...yay..fun.)
Funny I find good "upgraded" tools..AFTER I get the job done.
Now this new upgraded tool sits in a box...unused...( I have something in common with it..hahhahaha!)

So, I did not replace the fuel lines. Inspected them and they seemed fine. It was just on one end it was brittle and cracked so I cut off about 1/4" and just pulled it up some more. So, it was only 30 bucks I spent on the submersible hose.

Now to move onto my boosting problem. Hopefully it is just the wastegate actuator not working properly. I'm getting around 7lbs of boost. I put up a stethoscope to the actuator, and got all kinds of weird noises.
