God Im a dumbass

Last night I was going to jump my car to life and It was really dark and I crossed the jumper cables and put the pos on the neg and vice versa. Anyway I fried something because now I have no power to anything. Nothing in the fuse box blew. Any idea where to start? I have a multimeter but have never really used it.
Thanks

Umm... What about the battery? I mean you cross charge it like that... I'm amazed the damned thing didn't go boom. But yeah, Check the Fusible Links, Alternator, flux capacitor and wires.

What I meant by Wires was the Battery Cables, Ground connections, and starter connections. Depends on how long you jumpstarted the car, but you could have fried a few things...

An alternator will run even if the capacitor is dead. It will just be a little more noisy because that's basically all it does, it supresses noise! And im not sure if demonspawn67 is serious about calling it the flux capacitor because that only exists in back to the future!
Anyway, you may have blown a diode in the rectifier, or fried the regulator, OR BOTH! Rectifier's aren't that hard to replace, we replace them everyday in our starter and alternator shop! Same goes for regulators.

Welcome to the forum, rising sun.
I think "flux capacitor" turns up more hits than "porting" if you search, but then, we'd have to explain "searching" to you guys, too.

I know 84-12a-gsl, when you said it I knew you meant it as a joke! But when demonspawn said it I wasn't sure if he thought it was actually a joke like you said so I asked if he was serious.......... It's kind of confusing but yes I recognize it was your joke!
Thanks glewsrx! I've had my rx7 for two years and it's just now getting close to street worthy! I got it when I was 15 as a first car to drive so it gave me a year to finish it before I got my license. But since then I want to restore it right, not just hurry up and get it on the road so another teen can wreck one of these, now classic cars! I have a much deeper respect for this car and would never dream of wrapping my baby around a tree. It's so cool being able to say that my first car was and is an 82 rx7! And no I'm not like most teen these days!
