Need some info on using 85w-140 gear oil compared to 80w-90. Anyone use this weight?

It may be too thick for our cars and cause problems.

Do you think it would be a temp. fix for worn sloppy gears?

email redline with the condition of your tranny and what you plan on doing with the car (street, autox, racing) and they will tell you what product is best.

I could have gotten some of that 85W-140 a couple of days ago, but chose to use 80W-90 in my ribcase tranny instead. Glad I did.

I tried 80w-140 once, it was to thick, even for Texas heat. It is hard on the syncros. Get a good synthetic.

same thing i said. here is what they told me.

>I have a 79 maxda rx7 that I autocross and sees mainly weekend sport
>driving other then highway driving to the races. Fuel consumption
>isnšt a big concern. Which gear oils would you suggest for the diff
>and the tranny?

In your RX-7, I would recommend the Red Line MT-90 in the
transmission and the 75W90 in the differential.

Thank you for your interest in Red Line Oil.
