GC Coilover installation
GC Coilover installation
Can someone help me out. Got my GC cilover kit but had some questions. Where do i weld the washer and spacer to? Do i measure and weld? Ithink i have to remove stok perch right? The instructions realy suck.lol
you got instructions?!?
I suggest calling ground control directly they were very helpful on the phone and they guy that answered the line answered my questions, i didn't have to wait on hold forever! My new "perch" wasn't in two pices like yours, it was actually welded together. The stock perch must be removed. When I asked them what a good spot ot put the new perch at, they said "anywhere so that the top of the strut housing is above the top of the new perch." I just put these on my GSL-SE, and am VERY happy with them so far...track day this weekend!

With those spring rates, I'd be interested to hear how it handles in the rain. With my RB springs, I can barely drive on wet roads without the danger of a spinout on the on ramps etc... I'm thinking my rear end linkages must be binding, considering how bad it is...

Kentetsu, are you running the rear sway still? if so, take it off, it is probably what is causing the suspension to bind. I'm running 375/175, and I have had no problem with traction what so ever.

i did this instill a few years ago on david88vert s gslse and i had to call ground control before i cut anything... they were very helpful over the phone and faxed me the spec sheet that showed exactly where the perch needed to be mounted... infact the guy that i talked to was a first gen owner and had the coil overs on his car w/ 17 inch wheels tucked into the wheel wells... very nice!! seems to me that back then the kit didn't come with a new perch, we had to reuse the existing perch...lol anyway good luck and happy sprited driving!~
I have a quick question about the completeness of the kit. I'm looking into getting the kit for my car and was wondering what all was included. The website doesn't tell much about that. Is it basically just a bolt/weld in kit?

I am running #300/#200 with 5 way tokicos, and no rear sway bar. I cut the existing perch of and ground it smooth. Then I tack welded the ring, bottom flush to the round plate. Set the thread tube on the new perch and made sure the top of the threaded tube was 1/2" below the top of the strut tube. Mark that spot thats where you weld up the bottom plate the the strut tube. Helpful trick. Take a cedar wood shim, split it long ways into 1/4 strips. Now take 4 of the split shims, and insert them between the strut tube and the new perch, insert them all the same depth, and the new perch will be equally centered around the strut tube. Also it will be lock in place so you can put your tack weld on it.
