Make sure and check if your parking lights work. If not then your parking light fuse may have blown. This happened to me one day out of the blue.

This may seem out there but has happened to a few people here (including me back in the day).

By any chance did you hook the 2 wires under the shifter trim together? This blows the dimmer switch and causes the dash lights to not function. If this is the case you can just simpily bypass the dimmer (rheostat) and have the lights at full intensity.

yea i had to do this, all you have to do is take the dimmer switch out...which is on the left side of the steering wheel under the gauge cluster, and cut the wires and splice them together. The lights will be as bright as possible because you have removed the switch or the light could be busted....i took my guage cluster out and i knocked one of the lights out of the back and when i put it back in i forgot to put the light on first so i kinda just pushed it in from behind just by feel and most of the time i have to flick the gauge cluster to get my voltage light to come on....so there are two choices i guess.

Should just be a matter of hooking the two red wires together, I believe the black wire is ground for the rheostat. If you are hooking the red wires to the black wire it will create a short to ground and therefore blow your fuses because the circuit is pulling alot of current.

No, you just hook the 2 red wires together.

What I was saying is the reason you may be blowing fuses is because connecting the red wires (power) to the black wire (ground) you are shorting out the circuit causing the fuse to blow.

Actually I think you need to DISCONNECT that coupling under the shifter boot, it should only be hooked up if you have an automatic. When they are connected they will burn out your fuse and/or dimmer switch.

It sounds like you connected the connector when you put that DVD screen in, which is reasonable because they sure look like they should be connected. That's why your dash lights went out (same thing happened on one of my GSLs when a mechanic working on the clutch thought it would be a good idea).

Just disconnect that connector, everything will be fine.

By the way, if you find that you have messed up the dimmer, you can buy just it from black dragon. Once you're sure your wiring straightened out again, which sounds like it just needs to be disconnected, throw in a new one (or junkyard part) if it doesn't come back.

what does that connector look like? i believe i have the exact problem right now, i'm gonna try to disconnect that and bypass the dimmer in case it got blown cuz all my fuses are straight right now...

It's a white plastic coupling that usually is tucked down in along the driver's side of the shifter underneath the boot. It looks for all the world like it should be hooked up, but this is only for automatic transmissions.

When clutches get done or trannys swapped or electrical adventures with the ebrake wiring and others wires under there a lot of times people hook them back up just because they look like they should be.

Wrong, this causes the dimmer switch and the fuse to melt.

Just unhook them if you have a standard transmission.
