thats funny, i have this same problem, too.
When I fill the tank up it goes up only to half, and my dummy light doesnt work either. I havent fix it yet, so Im probably no help. Ohh, wait it could be the float in the tank. I just fill up often.

I had this problem once upon a time. It was caused by loose wires at the fuel tank where the actual measuring device is located (under the rear, fuel door quarter panel in I recall correctly). It is replaceable but my gas tank had a leak at the seams so I replaced the whole tank for $40 from a junkyard. Fixed the gauge and all.

Doesn't work at all.... or is inaccurate?
If it's dead, check the top of the sending unit for broken wires, and rusted terminals / connectors.
If it's inaccurate, go here https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...light=gas+tank

If you have small hands and arms, you can squeeze your hand up between the left-rear (driver's) rear quarter panel, and the heat sheild, if not it's out with the 14mm socket and two extensions to get the gas tank straps off and drop the tank.

No need to drop the tank to get the sending unit out. Just remove the left rear tire and the plastic guard there. just 4 connection points to hold that plastic on with 10mm hardware, or there are originally 4 points.
You can then hope that the bolts aren't rusted to hell and you can remove em to see what your situation is. That is if you have the connector in the 7oclock position.

Glad to help

be careful if you decide not to drop it. the screws holding the sender on can strip easily depending on their condition.
