lol...damn, that look's good. i was just wondering how i was going to mount that holly fuel pump and f.p.r. now i got an idea.
how long did it take you to make that box?

Nice job on the fab work to get the holley in there. I wish the carter could
be mounted sideways like that.
When I installed my Carter 6psi pump I noticed it barely got to 4.5 psi
at the carburator using a brand new OEM metal filter canister. I then
swapped in a Fram see through and got back 1 psi at the carburator.
That stock filter really sucked from what I could tell. I think that OEM filter
is what killed my 20 year old dual facet setup I originally had for my
Dell setup.
Heres pic of it:

It didn't mention it on one set of instructions I had, but on another set it said to mount it vertically. I didn't read that one until afterwards and it only mentioned it inside a huge paragraph of text, not a "You must do this or death" box, like the rest of the caution points. I tried it both ways and it doesn't seem to affect the pump at all. Its slightly on a downwards angle anyway. I think the reason they want you to mount it vertically is because if the pump leaks, it will leak down, instead of on the electrical part.

This is totally a newbie question, but what is the extra screw/port on the bottom for? Looks like it's on the inlet side. Mine has one too, and I didn't get any info or instructions w/mine.

Its apparently the pressure relief screw. Removing it allows you to remove the pressure relief plunger.

Sadly I didnt get to take any pictures of installing the pump due to rain and the fact my car was parked over a nice lil mud puddle haha.
Heres a question tho, right now im running a Nikki Carb in the car and the previous owner said that it runned the best in the car. He did give me a Weber carb the other weekend tho and I was considering sticking it in. He gave me a pressure gauge for it to so I can play with it. Will the Carter work well with it you think? Or should I just stay with the nikki?

Well now that I know it works on it's side it'll be a hell of a lot easier to mount the 2nd time (I mounted it, crashed the car, swapped all the parts into another chassis, and still need to move the pump over)

That's fine by me lol. Im still new to cars in general and am reading the hanes manual plus I read around the forums in my spare time. No hurt in reading problems I dont have with my car yet lol.
Fox - Let me know if you have any problems with it being mounted horizontally.
I just picked up the Summit version of the Holley Blue, so it should result in similar problems if you have any.
I'll give Summit a call right now to see if it can be mounted horizontally and post back what they say.

So I called up summit and they said if you mount it horizontally, it won't produce a good seal and can cause premature failure.
If you want a pump to mount any which way, he recommended the Mr. Gasket 12s.

It puts out 35gph ranging from 4-7psi.
Now, based on the RB website, the Holley 465 runs at 20gph at 6psi. Im assuming this should be sufficient.
The Holley 600 is probably a little different, which sucks for me. I'm going to assume 6-6.5psi at around 20-25gph. This should still be sufficient. You have to account in for the pressure loss among the fuel line and filters though, which may just put you at 6.5psi. I guess I can try and if it doesn't work I can report back here.

I installed the carter inline pump that came with a filter. It is noisy, loud, and is the filter crap?
I have a new one that I can replace it with. I was going to put it upfront between the firewall and the carb as a second
filter. Is there something I can do to help quiet this pump?

1. Mount the pump on the frame rail, not the back of the storag bin (works like a speaker to make it even louder).
2. Use rubber between pump a mounting surface.
3. Once installed, spray the whole damned thing with a heavy coating of Rubberized Undercoating.
4. Install bigger speakers for stereo system, or get louder exhaust.
Haha the Holley is a freaking beast! The reason why I knew mine was crapping out was because I would stick the car to on and the car would be silent (Giving it a hit with the hammer works only so well. Eventually it just didnt want to go anymore). Its kind of nice when you can sit and have a conversation normally and not over that loud VRRRRRRRRRRR noise :P
